The Lamborghini Urus PHEV will share its powertrain with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid

The plug-in hybrid version of the Lamborghini Urus is something we’ve been waiting many years for and based on these new spy shots of the SUV, it seems to be inching closer to reality.
We’ve seen the Urus PHEV testing on a handful of occasions in the past but this prototype, clad in camouflage, is the most revealing that we have seen to date. It shows that a handful of design changes will be made to the super SUV, in addition to the fitment of the new hybrid powertrain.
The front fascia of the new Lamborghini looks largely identical to the standard Urus S and Performante models. However, there is one rather obvious change that you may notice. The headlights. Compared to the headlights of all other Urus models, the ones of this prototype are slightly slimmer and also feature new LEDs. They also lack the LED daytime running lights of existing Urus models. The hood of the Urus PHEV also lacks the same air intakes as other versions.

It is understood that Lamborghini has also lengthened the front of the Urus PHEV to help accommodate the hybrid system. The presence of fuel caps on both the left and right rear haunches further signifies this prototype as a hybrid with one of these caps hiding the electric charger. The final styling change visible on this tester is the unique rear spoiler.
CarScoops understands that the Urus PHEV will come outfitted with the same basic powertrain as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid which sees a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 working alongside an electric motor. Some reports claim that the Italian thoroughbred could churn out as much as 808 hp, significantly more than the 670 hp of the Cayenne.

Lamborghini is expected to unveil the Urus PHEV later this year before it hits the market as a 2024 model.
