The 2024 Hyundai Kona is cool with a capital ‘K’ and the company has revealed new details about the Electric variant.

Starting with the powertrain, the Euro-spec model will be offered in Standard Range and Long Range configurations.  The former has a 48.4 kWh battery pack as well as an electric motor that develops 154 hp (115 kW / 156 PS) and 188 lb-ft (255 Nm) of torque.

Customers looking for more range and performance can opt for the Kona Electric Long Range, which has a larger 65.4 kWh battery pack.  It’s accompanied by an upgraded electric motor developing 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 188 lb-ft (255 Nm) of torque.  Hyundai didn’t go into many other specifics, but said this variant should have a WLTP range in excess of 304 miles (490 km).

 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric Offers Two Batteries And 304+ Mile Range

Besides talking about battery capacities and performance specs, Hyundai revealed the Kona Electric has 400V technology.  While it’s not as advanced as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, drivers can expect to go from a 10% to 80% charge in as little as 41 minutes with a fast charger.

Hyundai also noted the model sports a new one-pedal driving mode, a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, and a drag coefficient of 0.27.  Buyers will also find a battery preconditioning system, a new charging port door lamp, and a frozen charge door prevention system that works at temperatures as low as -30° C (-22° F).

Outside, the model sports a distinctive “Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp” and “Pixel graphics.”  The Kona EV has also grown as it’s 6.9 inches (175 mm) longer than the outgoing crossover and rides on a 2.4 inch (60 mm) longer wheelbase.
