Chevrolet made a big splash by introducing the 655 hp (369 kW) Corvette E-Ray. Evidently, it’s the fastest-accelerating version of the model in history. There’s only one way to find out how fast that is in the real world and we might as well see how it compares to other thoroughbreds like the Ferrari F8 and the Lamborghini Huracan in an old-school drag race.

Despite having a little less horsepower compared to the Z06, it’s quicker because of that electrified, and thus all-wheel drive, platform. The Z06 makes 670 hp (499 kW), 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque, and weighs 3670 pounds (1,664 kg). In this race, the E-Ray will take on two of Italy’s finest head to head to head.

The Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD pumps out 602 hp (448 kW) and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque from its V10 engine. It also tips the scales at 3,674 pounds (1,666 Kg) so it’s the least powerful and isn’t the lightest either. That honor goes to the Ferrari F8 Spider that makes 710 hp (529 kW), 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, and weighs the least of everything here at 3,650 pounds (1,655 kg).

The power figures in this race seem stacked against the Corvette E-Ray which weighs some 3,774 pounds (1,712 Kg). Despite that, it dusts both of its competitors here with a quarter-mile time of just 10.4 seconds. In fact, its AWD system becomes the star of the show because, without it, this race would look a lot different.

As host Jason Cammisa points out, the Ferrari F8 is so powerful and so capable that it’s reeling in the Corvette long before the end of the drag race. It’s not quick enough to catch it but it still ends up being just 0.2-seconds behind in the end. A roll race would’ve probably resulted in a Italian victory.

Even the Lamborghini, which is way down on power compared to the other two and doesn’t have the AWD of the E-Ray, ends up trapping at the same speed as the hybrid. That makes what Chevrolet has done with the E-Ray all the more impressive. Especially if you can find one anywhere near MSRP.
