Audi has been testing the 2024 S5 Avant for years, but the camouflage is finally starting to come off as a lightly disguised prototype has been spied in a parking lot.

Looking sleek and stylish, the renamed wagon features a wide Singleframe grille that is flanked by sweptback headlights with distinctive daytime running lights. They’re joined by vertical air curtains and a large intake.

Bigger changes occur aft of the A-pillar as the S5 Avant features a more dynamic greenhouse and an upward sweeping beltline. The latter is echoed in an angular shoulder line, which cuts through minimalist door handles. We can also see attractive wheels and what appears to be a sportier D-pillar.

The streamlined styling continues out back with a curvaceous bumper that features smaller reflectors. We can also see a rounded liftgate, which has taillights that are connected by a thin illuminated stripe.

While the latest pictures don’t reveal much of the interior, previous images have shown the model will be equipped with a freestanding digital instrument cluster and a larger infotainment system. They’ll be joined by a minimalist shifter and a new steering wheel.

Audi has been tight-lipped about the model, but it’s expected to ride on the MLB Evo platform and feature an electrified powertrain as previous S5 Avant prototypes have sported prominent warning labels. While details are lacking, previous pictures have indicated the car could have a familiar V6.

We’ll likely learn more later this year, but the current S4 Avant has a 3.0-liter TDI engine with mild hybrid technology as well as an output of 337 hp (251 kW / 341 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This enables the wagon to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds.
