Soon after Porsche unveiled the ultimate version of the Boxster in the form of the special 718 Spyder RS, it has just launched an exclusive timepiece to complement it. Dubbed the Chronograph 718 Spyder RS, it will only be available to those who buy the car and is handcrafted in Solothurn, Switzerland.

Much like the car, Porsche Design says it adopted a lightweight philosophy with the new timepiece and has adopted a titanium case that “doesn’t weigh a gram too much.” This case can be finished in either natural titanium or black titanium while the colored ring on the dial is offered in standard and metallic finishes. Those who really want to stand out can choose to have the dial finish in one of 114 colors through the Paint to Sample program.

Elsewhere, the new chronograph has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with seven-fold anti-reflective coating as well as a carbon ‘RS’ dial and a ‘GT’ dial bathed in black. Porsche Design has also crafted hour and minute hands out of a special material called Super-LumiNova. A small mechanical gear indicator at 9 o’clock also encompasses a small checkered flag design.

A leather watch strap finished in black is then featured and incorporates an attachment from the same black Race-Tex material that can be found in the cabin of the 718 Spyder RS. Should a customer wish, a titanium bracelet can be fitted in place of the leather strap.

Given that the chronograph will only be offered to 718 Spyder RS customers, it’s no surprise that it costs quite a handsome sum. In fact, it has a starting price of $8,800 but that rises once customizations start getting made to it.

U.S. prices for the new model start at $160,700 excluding a $1,450 fee for delivery, processing, and handling.
