Inkas has revealed its take on the 2023 Land Rover Defender, which it has modified to feature 360-degree protection from all types of weaponry. Capable of withstanding two DM51 hand grenade blasts, the SUV’s real party trick is that it is almost indistinguishable from a stock Defender.

The custom shop aimed to maintain the distinctive appearance of the SUV while providing armoring that meets the CEN 1063 BR6 level. This ensures that the Defender can protect its occupants from assault rifles using 7.62 mm ammunition and even grenades. The decision to make the vehicle discreet serves as a security feature rather than just an aesthetic choice.

“Inkas has taken great pride in seamlessly armoring the Land Rover Defender to be indistinguishable from the OEM model – a critical security measure that is essential to providing discreet protection to our VIP clients,” said Margarita Simkin, Co-Founder and Chairwoman of Inkas Group.

The company achieved its objectives by implementing comprehensive armoring measures to safeguard the sides, top, and undercarriage of the vehicle. This includes the use of military-grade ballistic glass, a rear armored bulkhead partition, fuel-tank protection, as well as reinforcement of critical structural points, key mechanical components, and the installation of run-flat tires.

In addition to keeping it looking stock, Inkas also wanted it to drive like a luxurious Land Rover should. To help handle the extra weight, the company upgraded the brakes and modified the suspension to provide an “impeccably smooth ride through even the most rugged terrains.”

However, Inkas was happy with Land Rover’s 5.0-liter V8 that makes 518 hp (386 kW/525 PS), which is more than enough to handle the extra weight added by the armor.

In addition to the standard protection features, the Inkas Defender can also be equipped with optional security features. These include a cabin oxygen filtration system, a fire suppression system, and an emergency siren.

Pricing for the 2023 Inkas armored Land Rover Defender has not been revealed, but the company says it can ship it to any major seaport around the world. Upon special request, it will even deliver the vehicle using airfreight.
