The Tesla Model S Plaid hits 200 mph with ease, perhaps suggesting that it has more speed up its sleeve

Just a few weeks after Tesla launched the new Track Pack for the Model S Plaid, unlocking the EV’s much-touted 200 mph (322 km/h) top speed, CarWow headed to the famed Circuit Paul Ricard in France to put the car through its paces.
While we expect the popular YouTube channel to release a comprehensive review of the Model S Plaid Track Pack over the coming weeks, it has thus far only previewed its experience with a short 30-second clip. Nevertheless, this short video is quite exhilarating as it shows the EV storming through to its claimed 200 mph top speed down one of the circuit’s long straights.
Watching any sedan like the Model S Plaid hitting 200 mph is impressive and this clip is particularly noteworthy because it shows that the EV can hit its top speed relatively easily. Admittedly, the clip only shows the car’s speedometer, rather than a GPS-verified reading, but even still, one can’t help but feel it could go even faster.

Indeed, a Canadian company comfortably exceeded 200 mph in a Model S Plaid last year. In that case, Ingenext developed a new software system for the EV that bypassed the car’s top speed limiter, allowing them to hit 216 mph (350 km/h) as indicated on the speedometer but likely a little slower had a GPS speed device been used. Nevertheless, this run proved that the EV likely has more up its sleeve than Tesla claims.
The Track Pack just launched for the Model S Plaid doesn’t just unlock the 200 mph top speed but it also includes aluminum forged wheels, high-performance tires, improved brake fluid, and beefed-up brakes with carbon-silicon carbide discs, new pads, six-piston front calipers, and four-piston rear calipers.
