Alpine has released a pair of teaser images showcasing the new LMDh hypercar that it will unveil at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 9.

The new Hypercar will compete in the World Endurance Championship next year and replace the former LMP1 car that it has been racing in the Hypercar class since the series launched. The first of the two teasers released is the most revealing.

We can see that the French car manufacturer has given the car a low fascia with LED headlights and a pointed nose. The teaser also shows pronounced wheel arches, a blue paint scheme, and a set of center-locking wheels wrapped in slick racing tires. After making some alterations to the teaser image on Photoshop, we can also see that it will rock additional LED driving lights and have a complex front bumper with a large splitter and two aerodynamic canards on either side.

The only other details we know about the car is that it is based around a chassis built by ORECA and that the Alpine Formula 1 team will “provide their technical experience to take it to a level of performance necessary for top positions.” The racing outfit has also confirmed that it will run two examples of the new racer in the World Endurance Championship and that testing sessions will commence this summer.

Alpine’s new racer will compete in next year’s full World Endurance Championship series, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and compete against rivals built by Toyota, Porsche, Ferrari, Peugeot, Lamborghini, BMW, Glickenhaus, and Vanwall.

Powertrain details aren’t known but the car will have an engine developed by Alpine and the same spec 50 hp hybrid system as other entries. Vehicles competing in the Hypercar class are capped at 670 hp.
