2024 Chevy Camaro Drops 4-Cylinder, Gains Collector’s Edition As Sixth-Gen Send Off

The sixth-generation Camaro is driving off into the sunset and Chevrolet is celebrating its retirement with an all-new Collector’s Edition.

Available on LT/RS, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims, the Collector’s Edition package embraces the Camaro’s original Panther code name. As part of this effort, the LT/RS, LT1 and SS have a unique Panther Black Metallic paint job.

That’s just the beginning as the Collector’s Edition has Satin Black stripes, the front splitter from the 1LE package, and the rear spoiler from the ZL1 package. Buyers will also find 20-inch Satin Black or polished forged wheels. Lastly, there’s unique front fender script badging that integrates a panther into the ‘R’ in Camaro.

Interior updates are more modest and include black accents as well as a panther on the steering wheel badge. They’re joined by special floor mats that feature a laser-etched aluminum Collector’s Edition logo. As an added bonus, buyers will receive a “welcome kit which contains two posters commemorating the Camaro generations and the Collector’s Edition.”

Customers looking for a true collectible can get the Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition, which features a Panther Black Matte exterior. Besides looking menacing, the model is notable for sporting the first matte paint job from the factory.

The car also comes equipped with a Black Metallic stripe, the front splitter from the ZL1 1LE, and the rear wing from the ZL1 1LE. They’re joined by red brake calipers, black lug nuts, and a serialized steering wheel badge.

The Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition will be limited to 350 units and buyers will receive a unique Canfield Sport 45mm watch from Shinola. It features Camaro and panther motifs as well as the same serial number as their car.

The Collector’s Edition package starts at $4,995 although it requires the $1,950 RS package on the entry-level Camaro 1LT. This brings the total price up to $39,440 for the coupe, but that’s a drop in the bucket compared to the $88,690 Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition.

Regular Camaro Drops The Four-Cylinder

If the special edition doesn’t tickle your fancy, the 2024 Camaro largely carries over and will be available as a coupe and convertible in LT, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims. However, there are some updates as buyers will find a revised color palette that includes Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow.

More notably, the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has been dropped as the 2024 Camaro will be offered exclusively with V6 and V8 power. This is a notable change, but the engine was outgunned by the EcoBoost Mustang as it only produced 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque.

Dealers will begin accepting orders for the 2024 Camaro on June 15 and pricing starts at $32,495 for the LT coupe and $38,495 for the LT convertible.
