Alpine is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race with a special edition model equipped with all of its best aerodynamic and lightweighting equipment. Just 100 A110 R Le Mans will be produced and inspiration will be sourced from its own history at the legendary event.

“This iconic limited series follows in the legendary footsteps of the GTA Le Mans, combining sophisticated aerodynamics with an incredible power-to-weight ratio, as did the Alpine M63, the first Alpine to compete at Le Mans in 1963,” said Emmanuel Al Nawakil, VP of Alpine sales. “The A110 R Le Mans is the most radical A110 celebrating the most radical competition.”

The special edition model is based on the A110 R, which is already endowed with excellent performance figures. It can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds and will keep going all the way up to 177 mph (285 km/h) on a long enough road, such as the Mulsanne straight.

To make it even more stable at straights such as that one, the Alpine A110 R Le Mans has been equipped with suspension settings tuned specifically for high speeds. That was achieved with the help of what it calls a “Road & Track chock,” an innovation patented by Alpine that stiffens the car by five percent, for better stability on long straights.

Like the A110 R, the Le Mans edition has a carbon roof, wheels, monocoque, and Sabelt bucket seat. The limited edition model adds a carbon wing, to evoke the racecars that tackle the Circuit de la Sarthe every year. The model also comes with a unique livery. Painted white, a thin blue double racing stripe runs down the center of the car’s carbon components, and is complemented by blue fins on the rear wing. The blue theming is continued on the wheels with a piping strip around their perimeter.

At the front, the French flag celebrates the shared heritage of the famed race and Alpine. Meanwhile, the shark fin on the carbon rear window panel is a specific reference to the A480, its most recent competitor in the event.

Owners Get A Free Lap Of Le Mans

To really entice buyers, future owners of the A110 R Le Mans will join Alpine’s “Band of Racers” and will be given exclusive access to the Alpine Elf Endurance Team facilities at the 2024 running of Le Mans. They will also have the opportunity to have a lap of the track the morning before the race begins.

For all of that, customers will be asked for a lot of money. The Alpine A110 R Le Mans starts at €140,000 ($149,855 USD at current exchange rates), and orders for the car open on June 8, 2023.
