Chevrolet recently announced the 2024 MY lineup of the Camaro including the Collector’s Edition send-off but the automaker has another ace up its sleeve before the sixth generation of the muscle car enters retirement. The 2024 Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition will be produced in a limited number of 56 units, as a tribute to the NASCAR racecar that will compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The special edition was previewed in a couple of renderings during the “Meet the Team” event at Le Mans. The ZL1-based model, penned by Chevrolet’s Performance Design Studio, has many references to the racecar.

The aero package has been upgraded with the aggressive face of the Camaro ZL1 1LE, and a “wicker bill” spoiler at the back while the alloy wheels are shod in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar rubber. The model is exclusively available in the Riptide Blue exterior shade with satin mirrors and a black fuel cap featuring carbon-fiber inserts.

More importantly, the graphic package is reminiscent of the racecar livery. It includes gold and white stripes, monochromatic stars, and the NASCAR 75th anniversary logo on the bonnet. Those are joined by the Garage 56 emblem on the front fenders, and a Hendrick Motorsports logo on the C-pillars honoring the teams involved with the racecar’s development.

Optionally, buyers can get three additional graphics – a NASCAR windshield header, Goodyear decals on the front wheel arches, and the number 24 on the doors. Inside, there is Garage 56 branding on the floormats and steering wheel.

There are no modifications under the bonnet, where we find the ZL1’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT4. The small block engine is good for 650 hp (485 kW / 659 PS) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque.

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition will be available later this year, with the 56 units set to be produced at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly facility in Michigan. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

Its source of inspiration, the NASCAR Cup Camaro ZL1, is the result of a collaboration between NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet, Goodyear, and IMSA. The V8-powered racecar is set to compete at the fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, driven by seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, F1 champion Jenson Button, and multi-time Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller.
