We know what the new-gen S650 Ford Mustang will be like from the factory, but how does a tuned example look compared to its predecessor?

The S650 Mustang is on its way, and the comparisons to the car it replaces are inevitable. And while we’ve had an opportunity to look at the factory fresh model, a lot of Mustangs get modified. This is our first chance to see what the tuning world will be doing with America’s favorite sports car.
As the host of this video, posted to the StangMode YouTube channel, points out, the 2024 Mustang RTR Spec 2 is a pretty solid representation of what a lot of people will do with their car. It’s tuned enough so that you notice, without requiring you to spending so much that you need to sleep in it.
As a refresher, the Mustang RTR Spec 2 package can be added to any 2024 Mustang and receives a handful of aesthetic modification, like the LED lights at either end of the grille and a graphics package.

It also gets a selection of functional mods, such as a new chin splitter, a deck lid spoiler, and more. Moreover, it gets a “Tactical Performance Suspension” that comes with adjustable shocks and struts, lowering springs, and adjustable front and rear sway bars, to allow owners to lock in their preferred settings. All in, it adds $12,495 to the price of the Mustang.
As the host points out, the Spec 2 changes are reminiscent of what many owners do anyway: lowering it, changing the wheels, and making a few aesthetic changes. So the Mustang RTR Spec 2 is a valuable insight for those buyers.

Seeing them side by side, some of the subtle differences are highlighted. Beyond the obvious changes to the front fascia (lights, intakes, etc.) it’s clear that the body lines on the 2024 Mustang are sharper, which gives it a tighter look, like a fighter who has cut weight for a bout.
All of the changes lend themselves well to the RTR modifications, some of which (like the hood scoop and the rear haunches) are accentuated by the graphics. However, the changes are modest, meaning that while the car is unlikely to offend Mustang owners, I wonder if it will be enough to convince them to make the change.
