The Audi RS6 is one of the fastest and most powerful family haulers in the world and a solid alternative to performance-focused SUVs. However, things have progressed since the debut of the fourth generation in 2020, with Audi already working on a more extreme version, set to bring more power and aggressiveness.

The model is rumored to adopt the RS6 GT moniker, signifying the special treatment from Audi Sport engineers. A camouflaged prototype made its spy debut on the road and the track, flaunting a redesigned bodykit.

The highlight of the pictured prototype is the significantly larger rear spoiler which looks like something you would expect from a tuner. The rear end also gets a revised bumper, with a new diffuser retaining the characteristic dual oval tailpipes. On the profile, the lighter 22-inch alloy wheels are sourced from the RS6 Performance, but the front fenders have been altered with the addition of air outlets. Finally, the model sports a new front bumper with interconnected intakes, a more pronounced splitter, and a slightly slimmer grille.

The aforementioned visual changes are hiding important updates under the skin. Last month, the Managing Director of the Audi Sport division, Sebastian Grams, admitted they “can go more extreme” with the RS6, giving us an idea of what to expect. Currently, the most potent variant is the RS6 Performance with 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque from the mild-hybrid twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. The RS6 GT will most likely surpass those numbers, joined with a more aggressive chassis setup and all the available performance goodies.

The Audi RS6 GT is rumored to debut in 2024, and could be the swan song of the fourth generation. In the same year, the automaker is also expected to reveal the all-new and fully electric RS6 e-tron which will be totally unrelated to the ICE-powered model, representing the zero-emission performance of the future.
