Opel is on track to offer electric versions for all of its models in 2024, something that will be made possible thanks to the next generations of the Crossland and Grandland SUVs that are set to debut next year. The German company confirmed that the new Crossland will offer an EV option, while the successor of the Grandland will be exclusively offered with an electric powertrain.
The Crossland and Grandland models are currently the oldest in Opel’s lineup, are they are in the market since 2017. The Crossland is based on the old PSA-derived PF1 architecture, while the Grandland rides on the EMP2 platform.

The second-gen Opel Crossland is expected to ride on the more modern CMP/eCMP architecture, which is compatible with petrol, mild hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. It is safe to assume that it will be longer and more spacious than the mechanically-related Mokka which also competes in the same segment while adopting similar styling language and upgraded technology.
As for the new and completely redesigned Opel Grandland, it will likely share the STLA Medium underpinnings with the next-gen, and soon-to-be-unveiled, Peugeot 3008. The latter has been confirmed to offer three fully electric powertrain options and a driving range of up to 700 km (435 miles).
18 Electrified Models Coming This Year

Opel wants to become an EV-only brand in Europe by 2028. Until then, the company confirmed that no less than 18 electrified models will debut before the end of 2023. The only explanation for this number is that Opel includes all of the variants of new and existing models that will feature the mild-hybrid 1.2-liter engine. The electrified powertrain debuted in the facelifted Corsa, where it is available in two power outputs with 99 hp (74 kW / 100 PS) or 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS).
Besides mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric models, Opel is also continuing the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, with the existing Vivaro-e Hydrogen set to be joined by a larger “fuel cell transporter” in 2024.
