The Chevrolet Bolt is going out of production later this year but its main rival, the Nissan Leaf, is sticking around for 2024.
Since the second-generation Leaf is clearly thinking about retirement at this point, there hasn’t been any changes aside from pricing. Jumping right into the numbers, the 2024 Leaf S starts at $28,140 before a $1,095 destination fee.
That’s $100 more than its predecessor and buyers will find a familiar 40 kWh battery pack, which gives the car an EPA estimated range of 149 miles (240 km). It’s joined by a front-mounted electric motor producing 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque.

In terms of equipment, the entry-level Leaf has “Bio Suede PET” upholstery and an 8-inch infotainment system. Other features include cruise control, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Buyers looking for more luxury, range, and performance can opt for the $36,190 Leaf SV Plus. It sports a larger 60 kWh battery, which increases the range to 212 miles (341 km). Buyers will also find an upgraded electric motor producing 214 hp (160 kW / 217 PS) and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque.

Besides the powertrain improvements, the range-topping Leaf has a classier cabin with a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and two additional speakers. Other niceties include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ProPILOT Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control, GPS navigation, and an Intelligent Around View Monitor.
