Infiniti’s lineup used to ooze cool, but the closest we get these days is the aging QX80. A redesigned model is thankfully on the horizon and we’re getting a special look at it today.
While the prototype is heavily disguised, it’s instantly recognizable and features classic styling cues such as front fender vents and a boxy design. However, there are big changes as the model adopts a more expressive front fascia with split lighting units and a massive grille. The latter also houses the company’s new logo, although it’s covered by camouflage.
Further below, we can see an evolutionary intake and air curtains beneath the headlights. They’re joined by a small camera, which faces down and should aid when parking or off-roading.
2025 Infiniti QX80: Styling, Powertrains And Everything Else We Know
While the body appears evolutionary, it features a streamlined design and flush-mounted door handles. The greenhouse has also been updated as there’s a more expansive second-row window as well as a kink in the rear beltline. The latter echoes the one found on the QX60, but it’s far more pronounced here.
The evolutionary design continues out back with familiar taillights and a modernized rear window, which appears to eschew the curvaceous treatment found on the current model. The license plate has also been moved from the liftgate to the bumper, where it’s joined by wide reflectors and an exposed receiver.

Our tipster says the redesigned QX80 is equipped with a twin-turbo V6, which is paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. That meshes up with comments from dealers, who have said the model will have 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS).
If that number pans out, the SUV would gain 50 hp (37 kW / 51 PS) despite losing two cylinders. The new model should also be more fuel-efficient and that would be a welcome change as the current QX80 returns 13 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 15 mpg combined with four-wheel drive.
The interior remains more mysterious, but a dealer claimed the model would have a classier cabin that resembles the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. That sounds a bit optimistic, but we can expect a 24-inch display that presumably consists of a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch infotainment system. Other highlights are rumored to include touchscreen climate controls and what sounds like a more spacious third-row.
Speaking of technology, the redesigned QX80 could be offered with a ProPilot Assist 2.0 system that allows for hands-free semi-autonomous driving on compatible roads. It’s essentially Nissan and Infiniti’s take on Super Cruise and BlueCruise, but without the catchy name.
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 will reportedly arrive next summer and cost more than $100,000. If that number pans out, it would be a huge jump as the current model begins at $72,700. It would also make the QX80 more expensive than rivals such as the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Lexus LX.
