Mazda has a bit of a convoluted lineup these days and the company is about to have another three-row crossover. The CX-90 debuted earlier this year for Americans and now Europeans can look forward to the slightly smaller CX-80.

The crossover is essentially an extended CX-60 with a third-row and that’s reflected in the spy photos as the two models look virtually identical. However, the CX-80 has longer rear doors and unique third quarter glass. We can also see what appears to be a less adventurous rear pillar.

 2024 Mazda CX-80 Spied As A Super-Sized CX-60 With A Third-Row

Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the cabin largely carries over from the CX-60. As a result, there could be a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system, and available maple wood trim.

Engine options should be the same as in the CX-60, and this means we can expect a 3.0-liter straight-six petrol as well as a 3.3-liter six-cylinder diesel with outputs of 197 hp (147 kW / 200 PS) and 251 hp (187 kW / 254 PS). We can also expect a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack. This setup gives the CX-60 PHEV a combined output of 323 hp (241 kW / 327 PS) and an electric-only range of up to 42 miles (68 km) in the city.

Mazda has already confirmed the CX-80 will be launched later this year, so expect to learn more in the coming months.
