The all-electric Nio ET5 sedan will make its British debut at next weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, even though it is not yet on sale in the UK.

The Chinese car manufacturer has a history at the Goodwood Festival of Speed after it set a new record with the EP9 hypercar back in 2018. While the ET5 isn’t anywhere near as fast, it will be displayed at the Electric Avenue throughout the course of the event and should intrigue attendees.

“We are delighted for ET5 to make its UK debut, here at Goodwood, a location that holds a special place in the story of our growing brand,” Nio UK’s managing director Matt Galvin said. “Electric Avenue is all about making EVs accessible to all and whilst it is not on sale here just yet, we wanted to highlight how NIO’s battery swapping and other user-focused services make switching to EVs an attractive option. It’s the perfect place to show just how different EV use can be with NIO.”

Nio ET5 Making UK Debut At Goodwood But Local Launch Date Not Yet Confirmed

Nio has not yet announced a date for when the ET5 will go on sale in the UK but it does intend on launching multiple vehicles in the market and also plans to establish local battery swapping stations. The ET5 is currently only available in China, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

Powering the Nio ET5 are a pair of electric motors. The motor up front delivers 150 kW (201 hp) while the motor at the rear is good for 210 kW (282 hp). This package results in a combined 360 kW (483 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, enough to rocket the sedan to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds.

Three battery packs are offered. The first is a 75 kWh unit with 550 km (342 miles) of range on the Chinese test cycle, the second is a 100 kWh battery with 700 km (435 miles) of range, and the flagship is a massive 150 kWh battery that can power the EV for over 1,000 km (621 miles).
