Opel published more revealing teasers of the upcoming Experimental concept which is set to debut at the IAA Mobility in Munich this September. The concept will showcase the latest evolution of Opel’s styling language, influencing future production models.

The company says that the Experimental concept has a “more technical and extreme interpretation” of its Bold and Pure design philosophy, centered around “flush body surfacing, aero-efficiency, and resource-conserving”.

The new photos focus on various exterior and interior details of the Experimental concept, without revealing its bodystyle type. The highlight is the fresh Opel Blitz emblem which is illuminated and integrated into the transparent grille. The new interpretation of the Opel Vizor is flanked by horizontally-arranged LED headlights and vertical LED bars creating Opel’s Compass.

Opel Shows More Of The Experimental Concept

The Opel Compass graphic will be mirrored by the lighting signature on the rear end. Speaking of which, we can also see the taillights with a slim protruding LED strip extending to the profile. The portion of the roofline towards the back suggests that the model could have a fastback silhouette, possibly combining it with a crossover stance. If this is the case, then the Experimental concept could be a preview of the next-gen Opel Insignia or the new Manta which is set to return by the middle of the decade in fully electric form.

Other details include the aero-friendly wheels and the new ergonomic seats with integrated headrests which will use sustainable materials. The dashboard is partly visible on the blurry background, surprisingly without a prominent infotainment touchscreen hinting at a cleaner design.

The concept will debut at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich on September 5, but expect to see a lot more of it before that date. Opel CEO Florian Huettl said that the Experimental “marks the start of a new chapter for our brand”, and promised that they will reveal more details soon.
