Suzuki’s first global strategic EV is being tested under the burning sun of southern Europe

The production version of the Suzuki eVX concept was spotted by our spy photographers for the first time, hidden under plenty of black tape camouflage, showcasing its toned-down styling. The global model has been confirmed to launch in 2025, providing Suzuki with ample time to fine-tune its performance.
The prototype is currently undergoing hot weather testing in southern Europe, where temperatures consistently exceed 40°C (104°F) for several consecutive days due to the ongoing heatwave. The SUV maintains the fundamental design elements of the original study, such as the prominent fenders, rugged front bumper, sculpted bonnet, and full-width taillights.
However, the more conventional headlights, grille, mirrors, door handles, and greenhouse contribute to a less inspiring yet production-ready appearance, especially when combined with the smaller-diameter alloy wheels.

The dashboard seems to be concealed, but we anticipate a larger free-standing display for the infotainment system and a new digital instrument cluster, which will likely be implemented in all forthcoming Suzuki models. Thanks to the advantages of electric underpinnings, the cabin will offer more space compared to equivalently-sized internal combustion engine-powered alternatives, enhancing the overall roominess.
In terms of size, the concept had dimensions of 4,300 mm (169.3 inches) in length, 1,800 mm (70.9 inches) in width, and 1,600 mm (63 inches) in height. This makes it the same length as the ICE-powered SX4 S-Cross and 125 mm (4.9 inches) longer than the aging Vitara. These measurements position it in competition with other electric B-SUV models from various brands, including the Peugeot e-2008, the Fiat 600e, and the upcoming Renault 4.
Over 550 km or 340 miles of range
While specific details are yet to be revealed, during the concept’s presentation in January 2023, Suzuki announced preliminary specifications. These include a 60 kWh battery pack and an estimated range of 550 km (342 miles) based on the Indian MIDC cycle. Additionally, Suzuki pledged that the electric vehicle would be equipped with four-wheel-drive capabilities, enhancing its off-road capabilities and credentials.
We expect to see more prototypes of the Suzuki eVX prior to its market launch in 2024, hopefully with less camouflage on.
