Winnebago and EcoFlow have joined forces to create an off-grid RV known as the Solis Pocket 36B that can run without a gas or propane generator.

Given that EcoFlow specializes in building solar generators and power solutions, it comes as little surprise that the model sports a new Power Kit Pro. It’s an optional upgrade that features a 5 kWh battery pack, which is located beneath one of the dinette seats.

Besides the space saving design, the battery eliminates the need for a gas or propane generator. That promises to make camping quieter and more comfortable.

The battery pack provides up to 3,600 watts of power and can run the air conditioner for up to five hours. That’s not very long, but Winnebago said it “enables up to three days of boondocking or off-grid living in favorable weather conditions.” Owners can extend that as the model has a plug-and-play capability, which enables up to two additional batteries to be connected without custom wiring.

Winnebago says a “5-in-1 power management controller optimizes energy efficiency, simplifies vehicle operations and enhances the overall ownership experience by replacing five essential power components – inverter, shore power converter, battery energy converter, solar energy converter and alternator energy optimizer – into a single system.” That’s a lot to take in, but owners can monitor the battery’s operation via a digital touchscreen.

The companies added that there are several improvements over the traditional EcoFlow Power Hub, including a simplified interface and a 40% faster recharging time via the aforementioned alternator energy optimizer. The Pro variant also promises a faster recovery if the battery overheats due to extreme conditions.

Putting the battery aside, the Solis 36B camper can accommodate up to four people and features a rear wet bath with a sink, shower, medicine cabinet, and removable toilet. The RV also has a trick dinette that offers an assortment of configurations.

Winnebago didn’t mention pricing, but the standard Solis Pocket starts at $140,375.
