There’s a ton of confusion and misinformation spouted online about the costs of servicing and repairing hypercars like the Bugatti Chiron and Aston Martin Valkyrie. But one thing we can be sure of is that any time you need to do anything to one of these cars it’s going to result in a bill that would make normal folks’ eyes water.

So the sight of a Chiron being driven on its bare alloy wheel rim, absolutely devoid of a tire, is fairly tough to watch. The footage shows the blue Bugatti being unloaded from a trailer down some wooden ramps and onto a section of carpet. But instead of stopping there, the driver continues to roll further back and onto the hard floor of a repair shop that contains a selection of other supercars including a Ferrari Boxer and 458 Speciale.

The clip comes from supercar broker by the name of Jack, who posted the video to his @jpmcars Tiktok account along with the heading “This was expensive,” but offered little in the way of an explanation as to how the Chiron came to be minus a tire, whether the wheel was toast anyway, and exactly what kind of repair bill the owner was facing.

That Looks Expensive: Bugatti Chiron Driven On Bare Alloy Wheel

The older Veyron was notoriously expensive when it came to replacing wheels and tires, but Bugatti massively reduced the costs for the Chiron. The wheels are designed to last the life of the car, and no longer need to be replaced – unless they’ve been damaged, of course. We’ve no idea if these wheels were wrecked, but a replacement rim from Bugatti is going to be expensive. Well, it’ll sound expensive to us, but if you can afford a $2-3 million hypercar you’re probably not going to have too much difficulty handling a five-figure bill for some new rolling stock.
