The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 was supposed to be the final and ultimate version of the combustion-powered muscle car but as it turns out, Dodge quietly commissioned a limited-run Jailbreak version for select customers.

Details of the secretive special edition first surfaced on the Hellcat forum. A poster revealed that Dodge invited between 20 and 25 people to purchase the Demon 170 Jailbreak and that 40 different color options were offered for the car. Of these, 20 were newer colors picked by the SRT team while 20 were legacy heritage colors from the car manufacturer.

It is understood that each person invited to buy the Demon 170 Jailbreak was sent 40 color samples and that the first one informing Dodge of their preferred color was reserved for that paint. What this means is that each color option is a one-of-one and that there will be no two Demon 170 Jailbreak models that are the same.

The forum member asserts that celebrities including Jay Leno, Michael Strahan, and Bill Goldberg were among those offered a Demon 170 Jailbreak. Others to be offered included a couple of race car drivers, some people from Dodge itself like chief executive Tim Kuniskis, and a host of loyal Dodge customers that have purchased many vehicles from the carmaker over the past decade.

Each car delivered will reportedly come with a plaque specifying the chosen color and the customer’s name. Dodge confirmed the existence of the model in a statement to Motor1.“The Jailbreak 170 is a celebration of the ultimate “Last Call” Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 shared with our most loyal muscle car customers,” the carmaker said. “Select individuals were offered this exclusive paint option based on their new Dodge Charger and Challenger purchase history and Dodge brand affiliation. This one-of-one paint option will add an extra layer of customization and collectability to the record-breaking Challenger SRT Demon 170, and was made available on a limited basis to those who have meant so much to the latest era of Dodge muscle. The option is no longer being offered.”
