The Ferrari 296 GTS is the latest model from the Italian marque’s portfolio to be scaled down to 1:8 size for a new model from Amalgam Collection. As with all of Amalgam’s models, including its most recent one for the Purosangue, its 296 GTS is exorbitantly expensive for regular folks but chump change for Ferrari buyers.

Just 199 examples of the stunning 1:8 scale model are set to be manufactured and buyers can either choose from an off-the-shelf configuration or instead order a bespoke model that will be built to their specifications. Amalgam spent more than 3,000 hours developing the model and each one takes over 300 hours to build and assemble by hand.

Like its other models, Amalgam’s 296 GTS is based on the original CAD designs of the car and Ferrari has provided its assistance on finishes, materials, archive imagery, and drawings to ensure everything is perfect. Amalgam even went to the trouble of creating a prototype for Ferrari’s engineering and design teams to analyze.

Amalgam’s Ferrari 296 GTS Is A Perfect Scale Model With An Eye-Watering Price

The attention to detail is a sight to behold. Found across the exterior of this particular model, number 2 of the 199 being built, is a red and yellow paint scheme complemented with carbon fiber on the front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser. The model also features a gloss black roof with silver racing stripes that can be easily removed, just like in the real car. Unlike the life-size 296 GTS, however, the roof does not automatically fold away.

Amalgam’s pursuit of perfection is especially obvious in the cabin where all of the 296 GTB’s materials have been replicated, including the black leather, red contrast stitching, and gloss carbon fiber. Even the car’s digital instrument cluster and passenger-side display have been mimicked with stickers.

The price for this incredible scale model? A cool $15,995.
