The Escalade IQ won’t have a NACS port at launch, but owners will receive an adaptor to use with Tesla Superchargers

General Motors will embrace the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in 2025, but you won’t find the Tesla-designed port on the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ.
During a preview event last week, we talked charging with chief engineer Mandi Damman. She said working on the Escalade IQ was the “assignment of a lifetime” as the company is reinventing an icon.
However, due to timing, the Escalade IQ will come with a Combined Charging System (CCS) port when it’s launched next summer. That’s less than ideal, but GM announced plans to adopt NACS in June so there wasn’t enough time to integrate the port into the luxury SUV.

Damman said buyers will get a NACS adapter, which will enable them to use Tesla Superchargers thanks to a recent agreement between the automakers. As for when the Escalade IQ will be equipped with a NACS port, she couldn’t say as the announcement is so recent that an exact date hasn’t been determined. As a result, it remains unclear if the port will be added shortly after launch or sometime later.
In the meantime, the Escalade IQ’s CCS port will enable the model to receive up to 100 miles (161 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes using a DC fast charger. At home, the 7.7 kW dual-level charge cord can deliver 14.8 miles (23.8 km) of range for every hour it’s connected to a 240V outlet. That climbs to approximately 37 miles (59.5 km) per hour when using a 19.2 kW charger.
