Czinger is cooking up something special for this year’s Monterey Car Week. The California-based company teased a new 21C Blackbird Edition that’s going to feature a dark-themed exterior and a special logo inspired by the Lockheed SR-71 “Blackbird” aircraft.

The teaser shows bits and pieces of the Czinger 21C Blackbird Edition in a dark studio environment. The hypercar appears to be based on the high-downforce 21C rather than the sleeker V Max with the longer tail which was first shown exactly one year ago at the 2022 Monterey Car Week.

We can also see the sizeable aero components of the model including a set of canards, the massive front splitter, and the fixed rear wing which appears to be unchanged over the standard Czinger 21C. It is not clear if the special edition will be a one-off or a limited edition but the 21C is already limited to 80 units. While the aviation references could be limited to the blacked-out specification and the badges, Czinger could also improve the performance of the hypercar in some way, further improving its record-setting credentials.

Both versions of the Czinger 21C come fitted with a twin-turbo 2.88-liter V8 and two electric motors, producing a combined 1,233 hp (919 kW / 1,250 PS), although the company offers an optional upgrade to an even crazier 1,332 hp (993 kW / 1,350 PS). Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a 7-speed sequential gearbox with a hydraulic actuated multi-plate clutch.

The Czinger 21C Blackbird Edition will debut at “The Quail: A Motorsport Gathering” on Friday, August 18. The hybrid 21C might remain the main focus of the company but last year, its founder promised a 6-member model range by 2030, saying they will be “very different”, and defining “slightly different segments”. Among those is the Czinger Hyper GT which adopts a two-door grand tourer bodystyle.
