An old Honda Integra Type R should have absolutely no business competing with a Porsche 918 Spyder, should it? In stock form, absolutely not. However, match an Integra producing almost 1,000 hp against a 918 Spyder and you get two of the quickest road cars you’ll probably ever come across.

Eager to see how his DC5-generation Honda Integra Type R would perform against one member of the fabled hypercar Holy Trinity, YouTuber Officially Gassed joined forces with CarWow to put the two cars head-to-head. The Porsche costs significantly more, looks significantly more exotic, and is much more advanced but when it comes to drag racing, those qualities don’t guarantee success.

A standard Integra Type R from this era delivers around 200 hp. This one has been turbocharged and now delivers close to 1,000 hp. It also ditches the originally front-wheel drive setup in favor of an all-wheel-drive system and also has a sequential transmission that allows for flat-foot shifting. By comparison, the 918 Spyder has a 4.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 working alongside two electric motors to produce 875 hp.

In the first of the rolling races held, the Porsche leaps off the line slightly quicker than the Honda but the JDM import holds its own and started to close the gap before the two crossed the line. The second race is even more exciting as the Integra immediately gets the advantage and takes the victory, although it did have a slight head start.

Just a single race from a standing start was held given the risk of something breaking on the Honda if it is launched too hard. While the Porsche has the advantage of quicker transmission, it is actually the Honda that gets the slightly better launch and ends up crossing the finish line in 9.8 seconds compared to the 9.9 seconds of the Porsche.
