The 2025 BMW X3 is inching closer to launch as spy photographers have snapped a prototype wearing production headlights. While they’re partially covered by camouflage, they have a familiar shape as well as a new daytime running light signature.
The rest of the front end is heavily disguised, but we can see an edgier grille and a new bumper with an intake that features a vertical support in the center. Other highlights include vertical air curtains and what could be a recess running down the center of the hood.
There isn’t much else to see, but the crossover adopts streamlined bodywork and an angular shoulder line. They’re joined by flush-mounted door handles as well as stylish two-tone wheels that are backed up by red brake calipers. The sporting theme is echoed by a four-tailpipe exhaust system, although only two tips are visible in the photos.

While the exterior design is fairly evolutionary, the cabin will adopt a new Curved Display. It could consist of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment system to help distance the model from the smaller X1, which uses 10.25- and 10.7-inch displays.
Previous spy photos have also shown a new flat-bottom steering wheel and updated switchgear. They’ll be joined by a revamped center console with a minimalist gear selector.
Engine options remain unconfirmed, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This would be a 7 hp (5 kW / 7 PS) and 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) improvement over the current X3 30i variant.
