Audi announced a mid-lifecycle update for the Q8 that will debut on September 5 – most likely at the IAA Mobility show in Munich which opens its doors on the same day. The company published a single teaser sketch showing the rear view of the updated Q8, while stating that the coupe-SUV flagship will remain “highly recognizable”.
The Audi Q8 was originally introduced in 2018, and five years later it is time for the Ingolstadt brand to refresh the “budget Lamborghini Urus“. Audi says that the headlights and taillights of the Q8 will gain “new design and functionality”. Indeed, the official sketch shows revised LED graphics for the taillights that retain the full-width treatment. The company also promised “more individualization options”, hinting at new color, wheel designs, interior trim, and upholstery combinations.

Our spy shots from earlier this year have proven that the facelifted Q8 won’t look radically different. Besides the lighting unit, mild changes are expected on the grille and bumper intakes, resembling those of the recently updated fully electric Q8 e-tron.
It is also safe to assume that the Q8 will inherit the latest tech features from Audi’s parts bin in order to keep up with the competition. Speaking of which, rivals of the Q8 include the likes of the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and Range Rover Sport.
The powertrain lineup of the Audi Q8 is expected to be largely carried over with small upgrades to make them cleaner and more efficient. This includes the RS Q8 performance flagship which was spotted doing rounds in the Nurburgring last month and will remain at the top of Audi’s food chain.
While the first-gen Q8 is about to receive a facelift just in time for 2024, it is rumored that an all-new second-generation will arrive in 2026 as Audi’s last new ICE-powered model.
