The Renault Scenic is about to transform into an electric crossover positioned above the compact-sized Megane E-Tech

Renault is almost ready to unveil the all-new fully electric Scenic E-Tech at the IAA Mobility Show in a few days, but development work is ongoing as proven by a couple of spy shots sent by our reader Christian who spotted the camouflaged prototype of the EV in a public parking space.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech was spotted in the town of Etretat which is located on the north coast of France. The colorful camouflage appears to be identical to that shown in the official gallery in mid-July, revealing a lot more details compared to earlier spy shots.
Overall, the production version looks similar to the 2022 Renault Scenic Vision concept, albeit with many toned-down features, including thicker lighting units, conventional mirrors, smaller-diameter wheels, and slightly tweaked proportions. Speaking of which, the fifth generation of the Renault Scenic moves away from the minivan silhouette of its predecessors, adopting a more clear crossover stance.

The new Scenic gets Renault’s new split LED headlight treatment which was originally introduced by the concept and has already been adopted by the facelifted Clio supermini and the Rafale SUV flagship. The profile features a set of futuristic alloy wheels with a Peugeot-inspired design, flush door handles, and some plastic cladding. The clear taillights have grown compared to the concept, taking up more space below the sharp edges of the pronounced rear shoulders and tailgate.
Overall, the Scenic appears to be quite compact in size, judging from the first-gen Peugeot 2008 that is parked next to it. The concept measured 4,490 mm (176.8 inches) long, positioning it at the top of Renault’s EV range above the 4,199 mm (165.3 inches) long Megane E-Tech. The five-seater interior is expected to offer great levels of practicality, staying true to the family-friendly heritage of the nameplate.
The unconventional electric-hydrogen powertrain of the concept will give way to a battery-electric setup for the production version which will ride on the CMF-EV architecture. Chances are that the Scenic will be offered with a single electric motor producing 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) as in the Renault Megane E-Tech, and with dual electric motors producing 389 hp (290 kW / 394 PS) as in the Nissan Ariya.
