BMW has published a new teaser of the Vision Neue Klasse concept that will debut on September 2. While the teaser video is short, it reveals that the concept will be equipped with a kidney grille unlike any other BMW to come before it.

The clip shared on Twitter X shows that the Vision Neue Klasse will have a kidney grille made up of two screens. These screens can then illuminate and slowly pulsate with a pattern of white elements, somewhat mimicking the look of a traditional mesh grille. You may also notice that there is a BMW badge that looks like it has been stamped into the body itself as well as a large badge reading ‘BMW Vision Neue Klasse’ below the kidneys.

Separate teasers released by BMW earlier this week indicate that the Vision Neue Klasse will be equipped with intricate LED taillights while the interior will include a thin digital panel running across the top of the dashboard.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse is more important than most concept cars. The vehicle won’t just be a design study to show a new styling language for the brand but it will also preview a future production model and premiere a new platform that will underpin six new EVs BMW intends to launch between 2025 and 2027.

Technical specifications about the car’s new platform are limited but it is expected to feature the brand’s sixth-generation battery cells that promise to provide 30% longer range, 20% greater energy density, and 30% quicker charging. These new batteries will be made up of new lithium-ion cells in a pack that can be mounted directly to the vehicle’s frame. Additionally, the sixth-generation cells have cathodes that use 50% less cobalt while the anode has 20% less graphite. BMW is also expected to use recycled cobalt, nickel, and lithium to produce the cells.
