Buick will transition to an all-electric range by the end of this decade

Is Buick planning an all-electric, three-row SUV that could rival the new Kia EV9? Well, this is what some people have suggested after the General Motors Design page on Instagram shared this intriguing image online.
This striking creation comes from the mind of Geoffrey Richmond who has served as a senior exterior designer for Buick since 2017 and was a designer at Cadillac before that. The Buick presented has a familiar design to other vehicles from the brand and were it to see the light of day, would certainly be a nice addition to the company’s current range.

The front of the SUV makes an immediate impression with a large black grille contrasted with a chrome strip running over it. A grey skid plate is also visible at the base of the bumper while a set of sharp LED headlights similar to those of the Wildcat concept also catch the eye. Located beneath these headlights is what appears to be an array of LEDs that could serve as the daytime running lights.
Much like the EV9, the Buick sits quite higher and is fitted with a large set of wheels combining silver and black elements. Other visual highlights of the SUV include slim wing mirrors and glass windows that neatly cover the B- and C-pillars. It’s all rather lovely.
Of course, it isn’t actually known if Buick intends on producing a new three-row SUV like this, let alone one that is powered solely by a battery and electric motors. We know that Buick will launch its first EV in North America next year having already launched a couple of EVs in China. The carmaker will eventually transition to an all-electric line-up in the U.S. and Canada by the end of the decade, meaning a big, electric SUV is a definite possibility.
