Bigger is better when it comes to auto shows and it was hard to miss Porsche’s huge 911

The Munich Motor Show was packed with debuts, but one of the coolest cars wasn’t drivable. In fact, it’s nearly two stories tall and doesn’t even have wheels.
We’re talking about a super-sized Porsche 911, which is located in the Wittelsbacherplatz and has become a fan favorite similar to the giant duck that was at the Detroit Auto Show last year.
Porsche didn’t say much about the “XXL scale” model, but it features a black and red outer structure built in the shape of the iconic sports car. Furthermore, the roof, hood and windshield are covered to protect the open-air interior from the elements.

Porsche’s Head of Experiential Marketing, Ragnar Schulte, said “The 911 is famous worldwide for its unique silhouette. This sculpture is first and foremost a symbol representing the many stories and experiences of enthusiasts, fans and customers that have shaped the iconic image of the 911 worldwide.”
The giant model is joined by a classic 911 as well as a Taycan and the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. The latter is the “most powerful Cayenne of all time” as it features a plug-in hybrid powertrain developing 730 hp (544 kW / 739 PS) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm) of torque. This enables the crossover to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.7 seconds, hit a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h), and travel up to 51 miles (82 km) on electricity alone in the city.

Other highlights include the 911 S/T, 718 Spyder RS, and Mission X concept. The latter debuted this summer and is billed as a “spectacular reinterpretation of a hypercar.” The model is roughly the same size as the 918 Spyder and features butterfly doors as well as a driver-focused cabin.
Porsche hasn’t gone into many specifics, but has previously said “The vision, should the Mission X go into series production, is for it to be the fastest road-legal vehicle on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.”
