There are barn finds, and then there are collections so large, that they don’t quite fit into the barn anymore. This find, discovered near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is the latter kind, because it includes more than 230 vehicles.
The collection was assembled by Andre Moizard before his recent passing. Born in rural France to a farming family, he moved to Alberta, Canada in the ’80s. A lover of cars from an early age, his father told him that if he wanted to own a car, he’d have to find a way to pay for it, and take care of it.
So Moizard worked until he could afford a Citroën 2CV, and learned about how it worked by tearing it down, and building it back up again, per Silodrome. He brought that passion and work ethic with him to Canada, where he started managing farms and collecting vehicles.

A lover of Jeeps and Cadillacs, in particular, Moizard is said to have created a vast network of friends and contacts throughout North America. Happy to travel across the country to Quebec, or down into the United States to buy a car in Seattle, he was apparently the most at ease behind the wheel of his custom Dodge 6×6, towing a newly acquired car home.
Moizard bought cars for a number of reasons, whether it was to satisfy his love of American and French vehicles, or for more sentimental reasons. Among the collection there are a few Citroën Traction Avants, which he bought to match the one in a photo of himself in his mother’s arms as a baby.
He also bought cars to delight his family. He collected VW Beetles because of his daughter’s love of the Herbie series of films, and a Pontiac Parisienne, in honor of his wife, who was from Paris.
Even his family didn’t quite know the extent of Moizard’s collection, though. His children reportedly believed that they would find 50 to 60 cars on the property he managed, but ended up finding hundreds. Now, they’re auctioning the collection off so that the vehicles can find a good home.
With plenty of Citroëns, Jeeps, Cadillacs, a few Internal Scouts, and much more to choose from, as well as no shortage of parts cars to satisfy the needs of enthusiasts with a project on the go, the collection is a treasure trove. Being handled by Prairie Auctions, the sale is set to end on Tuesday, September 12.
