The facelifted Genesis G80 will include LED headlights just like those of the larger G90

While the future of Genesis will revolve around electric vehicles, it isn’t giving up on its current ICE models just yet and is hard at work developing a facelift for the G80 sedan. A heavily-disguised prototype was recently filmed up close in South Korea and gives us a glimpse of some of the styling alterations that have been made.
Black body cladding may be covering the entire exterior of the car but we can see that the designers at Genesis have redesigned the car’s quad LED headlights. While they will retain the same overall shape as the headlights of the current model, we can see that the number of individual LEDs has increased, making the lights look much more similar to those of the larger G90.

The revisions will continue across the front fascia with a modified grille and new air intakes. The YouTuber channel behind this video was also able to take an up-close look at the LED lights on the car’s front quarter panels and they too appear slightly narrower than those on the current G80. The thick cladding makes it difficult to ascertain some of the updates made to the rear fascia but we can see different taillights.

Unfortunately, black sheets cover most of the car’s interior, meaning it is difficult to spot any changes. Previous reports have indicated that Genesis will ditch the free-standing 14.5-inch infotainment display of the current model in favor of a single display that houses both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment screen.
It is not yet known if any changes are afoot on the powertrain front. Current models sold in the U.S. are offered with either a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 300 hp and Genesis’s flagship 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 375 hp. We think it is likely that both of these engines will be retained for the new model. Genesis should also continue to offer it as an EV which in current form produces 365 hp and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm).
