The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse may not have a 5.2-liter V8 with a flat-plane crank like the beloved GT350 and GT350R but this video from Hennessey Performance shows that it still sounds excellent and is very quick in a straight line.

The Texas tuner recently took delivery of his very own Mustang Dark Horse and wasted no time in putting it through its paces on the track. While the following clip only shows the digital gauge cluster of the Mustang in action, we can hear the lovely soundtrack of the engine and get to see it storm through to its top speed.

While pulling through the gears, the Mustang Dark Horse picked up speed at an impressive rate, even though the driver was not pushing it through to the redline with each shift. Nevertheless, the driver still had the space to push the car to an impressive 161 mph (259 km/h) where it appears to have hit a speed limiter.

Hennessey Performance is also working on its first upgrade package for the Mustang Dark Horse. Dubbed the H850, the package will lift grunt from the 5.0-liter V8 from 500 hp to 850 hp and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. These gains will be achieved by fitting a supercharger, a high-flow intake system, improved fuel injectors, and an upgraded fuel pump. The horsepower and torque gains should absolutely transform the Ford Mustang Dark Horse and likely make it even faster than the previous-generation Shelby Mustang GT500 with its 760 hp.

The tuner is also working on some visual updates to the Dark Horse. These include forged aluminum wheels, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber front splitter, and carbon fiber side skirts. Pricing details haven’t been announced but each H850 package sold by Hennessey will include a three-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty.
