Mecum Auctions regularly presents a wide variety of wild and exciting cars for sale. In this case, the winning bidder will end up getting two cars in one, sort of. What you see before you is a 2017 Dodge Challenger with a lot of 1969 Camaro replica body components.

At first glance, from a bit of a distance, this car does pull off a 69’ Camaro vibe. But get just a bit closer and the whole vehicle looks askew. The lighting on the rear decklid is so mismatched that it looks as though the trunk is popped open.

Moving up to the front of the muscle car, the quarter panels don’t flow into the A-pillars correctly and the nose of the vehicle features some interesting styling that doesn’t appear to come from any actual Chevrolet Camaro in history.

Of course, trying to make one car look like a completely different model from a make comes with challenges. That’s to say nothing of the decades of automotive design and engineering that separate a car from 1969 from one in 2017.

From the side profile of this car, it’s easy to see how the front wheels don’t actually line up in the wheel well of the replica ’69 Camaro fender. The lack of detailed finish is something we see more often on poorly QA’d production vehicles than we do on cars at Mecum.

Interestingly, Mecum has this posted as a “star” of the auction. Of course, they post almost everything, aside from “Main Attraction” cars like a McLaren Speedtail as stars. The single interior photo we have access to shows little more than a very diminutive infotainment system.

Nevertheless, the next owner will have at least eight reasons to overlook the bodywork issues. Under the hood is a third-generation 5.7-liter HEMI V8 factory-rated at 375 hp (279 kW) and 410 lb-ft (555 Nm) of torque. That power goes straight to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
