Peugeot’s upcoming E-5008 will be based on the same STLA Medium platform as the new E-3008

It’s been less than two weeks since the unveiling of the Peugeot E-3008 and the carmaker is hard at work on its next all-electric SUV. The new E-5008, which will soon take its place above the E-3008 in Peugeot’s model range, was recently spied during its latest outing in prototype guise.
The new 5008 will be produced in both combustion and electric forms. We caught our first glimpse of it in ICE guise last month and like that prototype, this one is covered in camouflage. Indeed, the only real difference between this prototype and the other is that this one does not have an exposed grille, leading to suggestions that it is the electric version.

The intricacies of the new model’s design are hard to spot due to the camouflage but it is obvious that the new 5008 and E-5008 models will look quite a bit different than the outgoing model. Its overall shape appears slightly sportier and the rear window is more steeply raked. The proportions look similar but the rear overhang of the new one is longer. This tester is also rocking a set of very odd wheels that seem identical to those fitted on the new E-3008.
It is safe to assume that many of the design elements of the E-5008’s smaller sibling will be present. This should mean similar LED headlights and an intricate grille design. The rear end of the E-3008 also sports bold LED taillights that should influence those of the E-5008.
We know that the Peugeot E-5008 will be underpinned by the STLA Medium platform from Stellantis, like its little brother.
A handful of different powertrains will be available and these too could be similar to those of the E-3008. In the case of the smaller SUV, it is offered with 73 kWh and 98 kWh battery packs with horsepower figures ranging from 207 hp up to 316 hp. The range of the E-3008 varies between 326 miles (525 km) and 435 miles (700 km) and similar figures can be expected from the E-5008.
