The Nissan Rogue – sold us the X-Trail in other parts of the world – will soon get a mid-lifecycle update as proven by the camouflaged prototype caught by our spy photographers. While exterior changes appear to be minor, Nissan revised the interior of the SUV with a focus on the infotainment system.

The spy shots of the uncovered dashboard reveal a new setup for the center touchscreen display above a row of four physical buttons and a circular knob. The display is larger than the 8-inch unit found in the current US-spec Rogue and looks identical to the 12.3-inch screen of the higher-spec trims of the X-Trail that is currently available in Europe, Japan, and Australia. The same applies to the buttons underneath. The climate controls, digital instrument cluster, and steering wheel appear to be carried over, although there is a missing trim piece on the development prototype making it look weird.

 Nissan Rogue Facelift Spied With Larger Infotainment Screen
The EU-spec Nissan X-Trail features a 12.3-inch infotainment that looks identical to this prototype of the US-spec Nissan Rogue.

The exterior of the test car was dressed in camouflage but a closer look reveals no changes on the split headlights or the taillights. Still, Nissan could tweak the LED graphics later on, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they were left unchanged. On the other hand, the front bumper appears to be redesigned, with changes on the vents under the headlights, the V-motion grille, and the lower intake. The company could also add new colors and wheel designs to refresh the exterior further.

There is no information about any changes on the powertrain lineup which is currently limited to a single non-electrified option for US customers. The turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine produces 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 225 lb-ft (305 Nm) of torque and is exclusively mated to an Xtronic CVT. A different version of the same unit is a base for Europe’s more efficient mild-hybrid and self-charging hybrid (ePower) setups.

While Nissan remains tight-lipped about the market launch of the updated Rogue, it could take place as early as in the coming weeks, since the 2024 MY has yet to be announced. Note that the current generation of the Nissan Rogue debuted in 2020, making next year the right time for a facelift. On the other hand, the European, Japanese, and Australian X-Trail siblings were introduced in 2022, so Nissan could keep them for a little bit longer.
