Not long after Honda and Acura announced that they would soon adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) pioneered by Tesla and gain access to the Supercharger network, the two car manufacturers have established partnerships with both EVgo and Electrify America.

The move will provide owners of electric Honda and Acura models will access to the majority of public DC fast chargers in the United States starting in 2024. By 2030, they will have access to some 100,000 DC charge points.

The smartphone apps used by the two carmakers, HondaLink and Acura EV, will be updated to include available EVgo and Electrify America charging stations. In addition, owners will be able to use the apps to pay for charging, enroll in subscription plans, and redeem credits. In addition, those who order a new Honda or Acura EV will receive one of three available charging packages free of charge. These include either public charging credits, charging equipment, and charger installation credits. These charging packages also include charging credits with EVgo.

In the case of shoppers wanting to maximize public charging, they will receive $750 worth of free credits from EVgo. Those who opt for a Level 2 Home Charging Station and a $500 installation credit will get $100 worth of EVgo public charging, and those who opt for the portable charging kit will get a $250 installation credit and a $300 EVgo public charging credit. All three charging packages also include 60 kWh of complimentary public charging through Electrify America.

In addition to its partnerships with Tesla, EVgo, and Electrify America, American Honda has joined the likes of BMW, GM, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Stellantis in establishing a high-powered public charging network across North America.

“Honda aims to provide our customers with easy access to the most fast-charging options of any automaker,” vice president of sustainability and business development at American Honda Motor, Jay Joseph said. “With access to a broad range of fast-charging networks: Tesla’s Supercharger network; EVgo; Electrify America; and roaming partner networks, Honda and Acura EV drivers will enjoy stress-free, convenient charging away from home.”
