A special Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS model built in partnership with TAG Heuer and Porsche Latin America was unveiled at Rennsport Reunion 7 over the weekend. Limited to two units, the cars have been brought to life through Porsche’s ‘Sonderwunsch’ program and were inspired by the two 550 Coupes that were raced in the Carrera Panamericana in 1953.

Both of the cars are painted in Le Mans Silver Metallic and one has ‘152’ painted on the doors and roof while the other has the number ‘154’ painted across its exterior. These numbers mimic those of the original 550 Coupe race cars from Carrera Panamericana and are finished in yellow. The Le Mans Silver Metallic paint was first developed for the 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans Centenaire Edition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Elsewhere, the two cars have the TAG Heuer logo in a dark shade of grey on the hood as well as a Pegasus motif in homage to the 550 Spyder that Porsche also raced in the Carrera Panamericana.

The interior is particularly special. Guards Red leather adorns the seats and is contrasted with black leather across the door panels, dashboard, and center console. The car then has tricolored cross-stitching in the colors of the Mexican flag on the steering wheel and dashboard. A TAG Heuer logo has also been embossed into the center armrest while there is ‘GT4 RS Panamericana Special’ lettering on the door sills.

The highlight of the cabin is the TAG Heuer stopwatch module in the center console. The module consists of a clock on the left with a power reserve of eight days while the clock on the right serves as a stopwatch with a scale to allow the driver to maintain an average speed. What’s the significance of these clocks? Well, Jack Hauer unveiled the original TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 60 years ago, naming it after the famous Mexican road race.

“With TAG Heuer and Porsche, the Carrera Panamericana brought together two brands that have so much in common: innovation, a passion for racing, and making dreams come true,” Porsche head of marketing Robert Ader said. “We want to celebrate our partnership with this pair of one-off cars. It’s also a gift to our many enthusiastic customers in Latin America.”

The number ‘154’ Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special was presented at Rennsport Reunion 7 while the number ‘152’ vehicle will be presented at this year’s Carrera Panamericana and will be auctioned off at the event.
