Suzuki announced its lineup for the Japan Mobility Show 2023 with a few surprises. The most important among the near-production concepts are the new generation of the Swift ICE-powered city car which is expected for 2024, and the eVX fully electric SUV set to follow in 2025.
Starting with the new Swift, it might look familiar in terms of styling and proportions, but it is actually an all-new generation. A closer look reveals the fully redesigned bodywork with more curves, a fish-mouth honeycomb grille, new LED lighting units, and a bi-tone livery.

Suzuki says that the new Swift was developed with a focus on bringing fun to the owners’ daily lives. Like its predecessor, the model will come equipped with an array of ADAS.
Under the bonnet of the new Swift there will be a “high-efficiency” engine of unknown capacity. While Suzuki keeps its cards closed at the moment, it could be an improved version of the mild-hybrid 1.2-liter petrol motor which is powering the current model. The automaker recently announced the 2024 MY of the existing Swift Sport in Japan, so don’t expect the new hot variant to arrive until late next year.

Next up is an evolved version of the Suzuki eVX Concept that was originally introduced in January 2023, previewing a fully electric small SUV for global markets. The exterior retains the basic styling cues but features redesigned headlights and grille, alongside conventional mirrors and an interior that was lacking from the previous iteration. Overall, the new concept looks closer to the production version that will debut in 2025, although the final model is expected to be even more toned-down judging from our earlier spy shots.
In terms of specifications, Suzuki once more confirmed the dimensions, with the eVX measuring 4,300 mm (169.3 inches) long, 1,800 mm (70.9 inches) wide, and 1,600 mm (63 inches) tall. It also mentioned a targeted range of 500 km (311 miles) which is slightly lower than the previously suggested 550 km (342 miles), although this one was measured under the rather optimistic Indian MIDC cycle. The fully electric SUV will feature the latest evolution of Suzuki’s electronically-controlled 4×4 technology and is expected to come fitted with a 60 kWh battery pack.
More Kei Vans And Electric Mobility Solutions
Other exhibits include close-to-production concepts for the updated Spacia and Spacia Custom kei vans bringing enhancements in styling and comfort. The Suzuki e Every Concept previews a fully electric kei van with a targeted range of 200 km (124 miles) between charges, set to compete with the rising number of rival offerings in Japan.
Last but not least, the eWX concept is a futuristic-looking “mini wagon EV” with a length of 3,395mm (133.7 inches) and a targeted range of 230 km (199 miles), looking further away from production compared to the earlier models.
Besides automobiles, Suzuki will also exhibit a range of motorcycles, and plenty of electric mobility solutions including a “four-legged” vehicle and an autonomous delivery robot, plus a scale model of a flying car set to be unveiled in 2024.
The Japan Mobility Show 2023 will take place in Tokyo between October 26 and November 5, but we will learn everything about the exhibits on October 25 which is the press day.
