The 2024 Kia EV6 lineup is expanding with the introduction of two new trim levels: rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (e-AWD) in the U.S. These additions could become the sweet spot in the brand’s lineup.

The first of the duo is the 2024 EV6 Light Long Range RWD producing 225 hp with a 77.4 kWh battery offering a 310-mile (499 km) range. This model slots between the Light and Wind trims in the EV6 family and has an MSRP of $45,950 excluding a destination fee of $1,325. It comes with rear-wheel drive and is $3,350 more expensive than the entry-level Light RWD, which starts from $42,600 offering a 232-mile (373 km) range with a 167 hp electric motor.

The introduction of the EV6 Light Long Range RWD will allow Kia to slightly undercut the popular Tesla Model 3 Long Range which starts at $45,990. However, whereas the Model 3 is available with the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit when purchased, the EV6 is only eligible for a $7,500 discount when it is leased.

For 2024, Kia has also added a new EV6 Light Long Range in all-wheel drive configuration. This version will be priced from $49,850, representing a $3,900 premium over the rear-wheel drive version. It bumps power to 320 hp though range drops to 282 miles (454 km).

Lastly, the 2024 EV6 GT flagship, packing a formidable 576 hp, now boasts an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 218 miles (351 km), marking a 12-mile improvement over the 2023 EV6 GT. Furthermore, across all EV6 models, there’s a new standard charge port lighting and charge door marking, aimed at simplifying access and usage.

Sales of the 2024 EV6 are scheduled to start in the coming weeks.

At last month’s Detroit Auto Show, Kia introduced a limited-run version of the EV6 to celebrate it being named Utility Vehicle of the Year at the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards. Kia will build just 1,000 examples of this commemorative edition, each of which will be painted in Deep Forest Green.
