An owner in Mexico decided that his PT Cruiser wasn’t ugly enough

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is known for its retro styling but an owner from Mexico must have gotten tired of looking at it, converting it into a Volkswagen impersonator. The hatchback with the unconventional modifications was listed for sale online, predictably attracting a fair bit of attention on social media.
Looking at the photos, it is hard to tell that this bizarre vehicle started life as a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The only parts that have been carried over from the donor car are the greenhouse, glass surfaces, roof, and doors, with the rest of the body panels customized beyond recognition.

The majority of the additional components come from VW models, like the VW Polo headlights and the Golf taillights. As weird as this combination may be, the most eye-catching feature is the custom body kit with a matte black finish that looks like an exoskeleton. The wide front and rear fender add-ons were needed to fit all those parts together, which is why they extend to the bonnet and tailgate. We also find a pronounced splitter, roof-mounted LEDs, a double rear wing, and an aluminum-style diffuser at the back. The latter houses quad tailpipes which are mounted above the single functional exhaust.
Last but not least, the model rides on a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels and is desperately asking for a lowering kit. We don’t know if the unique VW-badged PT Cruiser has any modifications under the bonnet, but it has covered a fair bit of ground during its lifecycle, as proven by the odometer reading of 200,000 km (124,274 miles).
The listing on Facebook Marketplace was discovered by a page called Slicks and unfortunately is no longer available. The vehicle is located in the city of Morelia, in the Michoacan region of Mexico, and it is not clear if it was sold or if the owner changed their mind and simply took down the ad.
In any case, the asking price was 86,000 Mexican pesos, about $4,784 in current exchange rates. This is a bit more expensive than most Chrysler PT Cruiser examples in Mexico, but think of the Lamborghini-levels of attention you’ll get on the road riding in this …thing.
