The aging Delica D:5 receives a major redesign with a 16-piece bodykit from Japanese tuner Kuhl

Mitsubishi is ready to unveil an electrified minivan concept that is expected to preview the next generation of the Delica D:5, but the current model remains popular among tuners. Vrarva, a sub-brand of Japanese tuner Kuhl, presented a new version of the adventurous minivan featuring extensive visual modifications inspired by military equipment.
The Vrarva Orcus looks like a modernized version of the Mitsubishi Delica D:5 that wouldn’t be out of place in a video game or in a sci-fi movie. The Japanese model was originally introduced back in 2007 and despite receiving a comprehensive update in 2018, it has started showing its age.

Vrarva’s 16-piece bodykit includes wider fender extensions with angular surfacing that expands to the sliding doors. The fenders connect to the redesigned front and rear bumpers combining rugged and sporty styling cues. All of the Mitsubishi emblems have been removed from the exterior, with the new grille and the revised tailgate featuring Vrarva branding.
Last but not least, the minivan rides on a new set of 17-inch Vrarva DW01 wheels. Those are shod in Dunlop Grand Trek AT5 all-terrain tires for greater traction on rough surfaces. Overall, the styling language is similar to the Toyota RAV4-based Vrarva Mars that debuted in early 2023.
The Vrarva Orca is based on the diesel-powered Mitsubishi Delica D:5 4WD, which comes fitted with a 2.3-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder powertrain. The tuner doesn’t mention a power boost which means that the stock output figure of 143 hp (107 kW / 145 PS) remains unchanged. As for the suspension, Kuhl offers the option of a 4-inch (102 mm) lift kit for those who want to further improve the off-road credentials of the Delica D:5.
As of today, the tuned model has only appeared in digital renderings but an actual prototype will follow in the near future. According to Kuhl, the Vrarva Orcus costs ¥5,990,000 ($39,967) as a complete vehicle although a kit is also available for existing Delica D:5 owners. The total cost of the modifications in Japan is ¥2,712,260 ($18,098) including taxes and labor.
