BMW Chairman Oliver Zipse discussed a number of upcoming models during a recent conference call.

In particular, Zipse said the redesigned 5-Series Touring will celebrate its world premiere next spring. He noted the wagon will have the “same drivetrain portfolio as the sedan” and this means there will be an electric i5 Touring. Of course, that’s not surprising as spy photographers snapped the model last month.

Zipse went on to highlight the Neue Klasse, which is slated to go into production in 2025. He noted it’s “more than just another BMW-brand car” as it’s a “whole new generation of products.” Six Neue Klasse models will be launched within 24 months including sedans and crossovers. Zipse said “What all the models have in common is the all-electric heart that powers them.”

Speaking of EVs, the MINI Aceman will celebrate its debut next April. Zipse didn’t say much about the “premium-compact” EV, but it was previewed by a concept last year and spy photographers have caught prototypes on numerous occasions. It’s expected to slot between the Hatch and Countryman, while also incorporating cues from both.

On the topic of MINI, Zipse noted the brand will soon embrace a direct sales model in Europe. The rollout will start in Italy, Poland, and Sweden with other countries following in stages. BMW will then get in on the action in 2026.

Zipse said direct sales offer an assortment of benefits including “full price transparency,” seamless online and offline interactions, and direct access for an “entirely new customer experience.”

Last but not least, Zipse noted Rolls-Royce will be exclusively electric by the “early 2030s.” The Spectre will pave the way and deliveries are slated to begin late this year.
