The Ramcharger is back, but it’s no Ford Bronco competitor as Ram is using the name on a range-extended pickup.

The powertrain is the star of the show and the truck has a 92 kWh battery pack, which powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 663 hp (494 kW / 672 PS) and 615 lb-ft (833 Nm) of torque. This means the model has more horsepower than the Ram 1500 REV, but slightly less torque.

Despite this, the 1500 Ramcharger will be impressively quick as the dash to 60 mph (96 km/h) should take a mere 4.4 seconds. That’s the same time as the fully-electric variant.

What makes the 1500 Ramcharger really special is its 3.6-liter V6 engine that acts as a generator. Ram says it has multiple functions as the engine can be used to recharge the battery or work with the battery to “provide maximum power to the wheels.” That being said, it’s important to note there is no mechanical connection between the engine and wheels as it simply powers a generator.

This setup enables the truck to have a targeted range of up to 690 miles (1,110 km), which is far more than traditional electric pickups. Furthermore, owners won’t have to worry about range while towing as there’s always a gas station nearby. Speaking of which, the model can haul up to 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) and it has a best-in-class payload capacity of 2,625 lbs (1,191 kg).

Those impressive numbers can be chalked up to the new STLA Frame architecture, which features traditional body-on-frame construction. That’s only part of the story as engineers focused on maximizing range by using a front electric drive module with an automatic disconnect that enables the front wheels to “spin freely in certain conditions, maximizing efficiency.” Speaking of EDMs, the one out back is available with an electronic-locking rear differential.

2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Is An Electric Truck That Actually Makes Sense, Thanks To An Engine

Ram said the truck will deliver “class-leading ride and handling” thanks to a multi-link rear suspension and a four-corner air suspension. The latter has five different modes that can apparently lower the truck to improve entry and egress as well as raise it for improved clearance off-road.

Other highlights include bi-directional charging and an onboard power system, which can provide up to 7.2 kW of juice for the ultimate tailgate party. Ram also noted the truck has a 145 kW DC fast charging capability, which can deliver approximately 50 miles (80 km) of range in around 10 minutes.

A Design That’s Not REVolutionary

On the styling front, the truck is an odd mix of elements from the 2025 Ram 1500 and the 1500 REV. The front end largely carries over from the former, while the rear end echoes the latter.

The automaker didn’t go into many specifics, but noted the truck has additional body-color components and a power tailgate. We can also see a partially enclosed grille with an illuminated Ram badge. The latter “pulsates to indicate the charging status” when plugged in.

Rounding out the highlights are a front fender-mounted charging port and available RamBoxes. The latter are illuminated, weatherproof, and lockable.

A Classy Cabin With Screens Galore

The cabin is instantly recognizable and features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 12- or 14.5-inch infotainment system. The model can also be equipped with a digital rearview mirror, a 23-speaker Klipsch premium audio system, and a 10.25-inch front passenger display.

Like the standard model, the Ramcharger will be offered in a luxurious Tungsten trim. It sports a two-tone interior with a suede headliner, diamond knurling, and a crystal-inspired shifter. Other highlights include metal pedals, a dual wireless smartphone charger, and quilted leather seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions as well as 24-way power adjustment and four-way power headrests.

The truck will also be offered with an assortment of driver assistance systems including an autonomous parallel and perpendicular parking system. Customers can also get Hands-Free Highway Assist, which is a semi-autonomous driving system that allows for hands-free operation.

We can expect to learn more details closer to launch, but reservations are currently being accepted and customers can secure their spot in line by visiting RamRev.com.
