Owning a real racecar isn’t for everyone. It takes a lot of commitment and comes with some major tradeoffs. This Sierra RX3 might just be worth dealing with those drawbacks though. It’s quick, it’s capable, and it’s been up two of the most famous hill climbs in the world during real competition.

Let’s kick things off by being clear that as it sits, this Sierra RX3 isn’t street-legal so picking it up for road use would take some additional effort. It would at the very least need a bunch of lighting and perhaps some fenders. Nevertheless, it’s far from the most extreme thing one can drive on the road so there’s hope for those that might want to daily this beast.

What’s sure is that it’s a proper racer from front to back. Well, it’s a very performance-focused UTA or Utility Task Vehicle. To that end, it uses a tubular steel frame, a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, and a six-speed sequential transmission fitted behind the centrally positioned driver. The seller claims that it makes north of 200 hp (149 kW). That might not sound like much but Sierra claims a curb weight of under 1,000 pounds (453 kg) on most builds.

What’s really special about this car though is that it’s evidently made it up two of the most famous hillclimbs on Earth. Firstly, it’s competed at Mount Washington, the oldest hillclimb in the USA.

In addition, it went up Pikes Peak in 2020 and 2021 during the annual hillclimb competition. In fact, the video above shows one of those runs up the famous Colorado mountain as rookie driver John McInnes managed a time of just 11:38:155.

To put that into perspective, that’s one minute off of the time set by Matt Mullins and the BMW XM Label which only needed 738 hp ( kW) and a professional racing driver to manage such a feat. In short, this is your chance to own a car that’s properly quick, incredibly capable, and hilariously fun all for what will likely be less than a BMW M2.
