Following a tease last week, Rivian has officially begun leasing the R1T.

The automaker was surprisingly coy on specifics, but noted customers “now have another option to get behind the wheel of a Rivian.” The company went on to suggest leasing will only be available for “select” R1Ts and highlighted a deal for $899 per month.

That particular lease is for three years and 30,000 miles (48,280 km) on an R1T with the Adventure Package. Rivian said the deal is good until December 31st and “vehicle pricing before dealer options must total $95,800 comprised of the following vehicle selections: Quad Motor AWD, large battery pack, 21” wheels ($87,000) + premium paint ($2,500) + premium interior ($2,000) + premium wheel ($2,500) + destination fee ($1,800).”

Rivian R1T Now Available For Lease, But It Isn’t Cheap

The lease requires $6,794 due at signing and includes an “upfront capitalized cost reduction of $7,500 provided by the lessor.” The company went on to note there will be a 30¢ per mile charge for excess mileage, a $495 disposition fee, and possible charges for excessive wear at the end of the lease.

While that’s pretty standard stuff, Rivian has previously said leasing will only be available in “select states.” Judging by today’s announcement, those states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

Rivian noted customers can visit their website and enter their zip code to see lease-eligible vehicles near them. In Metro Detroit, the site presented us with estimated lease rates that hovered around $800 and $900. That being said, pricing varies by options and equipment.
