A coachbuilder from Ontario, Canada, believes it has the solution for those who find the C8-generation Chevy Corvette perhaps a little over-styled. They have introduced a new kit for the mid-engined sports car that involves replacing the exterior panels with a range of new components. However, C8 owners should be warned the kit alone costs more than a new Corvette Z06.

The company in question is Caravaggio Corvettes, and it calls its creation the Unica Series 1. It is available for both the Stingray and Z06 models, constructed from lightweight carbon fiber, and will be limited to just 30 units worldwide.

A dramatically overhauled front fascia helps the Unica Series 1 stand out from a regular Corvette. The size of the front grille has been reduced while the air intakes have grown in size. The shape of the air intakes is also slightly softer than those of the standard C8 and the coachbuilder has also smoothed out some of the creases found on the car’s original bumper. Subtle winglets have also been added to the bumper and can be finished in exposed carbon fiber.

The sides of the Chevy have also been remodeled. New door skins have been designed by Caravaggio Corvettes and the profile of the side intakes has also changed. The C8’s controversial boomerang-shaped side air intake shroud has also been removed, resulting in a slightly cleaner and more refined design. New rocker panels have also been crafted and aerodynamic skirts add a little bit of aggression.

Modifications made at the rear are relatively minor with the most obvious being the fitment of a new spoiler that’s neatly incorporated into the rear quarter panels. The shape of the rear air vents has also changed and there is a carbon fiber diffuser.

As reported by The Drive, the Canadian company says that each Unica Series 1 it sells will be customized with the buyer to ensure no two examples are the same. Of the 30 units planned, five of them will have an exposed carbon fiber body. Buyers can also choose to have the interior of their C8 upgraded with new fabrics, leathers, carbon fiber elements, and distinctive colors. The coachbuilder also offers brake upgrades, new wheels, engine tuning, and a supercharger package.

It all sounds rather tempting, right? Well, it is, until you realize that the kit starts at $135,000 excluding the donor Corvette Stingray or Z06. That’s an extraordinary amount of money for what is essentially a fancy carbon fiber body kit.
